How Ties Are Broken
Players are ranked first by total points, highest first. When two or more players finish on the same points, the tie-breaks below are applied in order — the first one that separates them decides their placing.
Points basis
Actual points scored
1
TB1 · Direct Encounter
If all the tied players have met each other, the results among them decide the order.
2
TB2 · Number of Victories
Total games won, including wins by bye or forfeit. More wins ranks higher.
3
TB3 · Sonneborn-Berger
Sum of the final scores of the opponents you beat, plus half the scores of those you drew. Rewards beating stronger players.
4
TB4 · Buchholz Cut 1
Sum of the scores of every opponent faced, dropping the single lowest-scoring opponent. Measures the strength of opposition faced.
5
TB5 · Arranz System
Points-style metric: win = 1.0, draw with Black = 0.6, draw with White = 0.4, loss = 0. Rewards drawing with the harder colour.
This tie-break order is fixed for the tournament and applied automatically. The computed TB1–TB5 values for each player appear in the Final Ranking crosstable.
